When a line snakes out the front of a Roman pizzeria, that’s a good thing. During Brooke’s year in Rome (don’t ask the year… it was before the Euro), she’d plan her Friday nights around a visit to Ai Marmi. Their Roman-style, thin-crust pizzas are delivered without ceremony (or good manners) by the staff but all is forgiven with the first bite of Quattro formaggi pizza. Kick off your visit with an order of olive ascolane and fiori di zucca fritti (fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies) then indulge in a pizza or two. The house red is good and cheap. Skip any dessert offerings and head to Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere for a gelato and the most beautiful post-meal walk of your life.
