Let’s go to Paris.

We’ll shred our puffer coats—those ambulatory sleeping bags that we’ve all been wearing for the past six months—hop the next Paris-bound flight at JFK and make a plan when we get there. The outdoor markets on the boulevards will show off with their first April strawberries, new garlic (ail nouveau), ramps and asparagus. Our favorite café on Place Saint Sulpice will pull us in with the scent of freshly baked croissants and just-roasted coffee beans. More walking, maybe around Saint Germain, and then terrine de foie gras and a glass of Vacqueras at Le Comptoir du Relais. Over our second glass, we’ll start to think about dinner…

So we’re daydreaming. And that’s a good thing! Planning weekend escapes and summer vacations is what keeps us happy while we sit at our desks. We know that we’ll be returning to Paris soon enough and so we troll our favorite sites for restaurant and wine bar recommendations. You do the same thing, don’t you? A 3-minute respite at your computer. To almost taste, to dream…and then one day, you’ll go.

We created The Food Scene to help you with upcoming trips, real or imagined. Paris, Rome, Tuscany, New York and the Gulf Coast are some of our favorite places in the world, places we’ve visited many times and where we can help you plan your next vacation. Look at the pictures, check out the maps, start saving up those vacation days…
