I hunkered down under warm blankets with the kiddos this morning and sent Jamie out into the snow to, well, play and cook with snow on Fox & Friends!

He and the production assistants scooped a mountain of snow from the Fox Plaza on 6th Avenue for, perhaps, one of the most essential treats when snowed-in a tiny New York City apartment with two young children– an “Adult” Snow Cone. Two parts freshly fallen snow, one part Amarula. Amarula is a South African cream liqueur made from the wild marula fruit (you guessed it, only found in South Africa). Think of it as a very citrus-forward version of passion fruit.  All you need to know is that it’s delicious. Jamie and I will be enjoying our Amarula Snow Cone when the baby goes down for a nap.

That’s the cool… and now the warmth. There’s nothing better than an ooey gooey ham & cheese sandwich on a day like today. Even better if it’s been dipped in an egg batter and lightly fried (a dash of Tabasco and Worcestershire make it really interesting). Think of it as Jamie’s kind of fancy, insanely addictive Ham & Cheese French Toast. Because there are only a few ingredients, try to use only the best. For us, that means heaps of grated Sartori Cheese, like their MontAmore and Sarvecchio Parmesan. We’re thinking that their cheese is what will get us through this storm…
